enterprise observability
Powerful and the wrong shape. Per-host pricing punishes a distributed indie stack, and you must become an SRE to extract the value.
uptime monitoring
A 200 response is not "working". Neither can see a Lambda error rate or a webhook backlog, and neither correlates across services.
per-service native
These are Beaam's data sources as much as its competitors. Each is excellent in its own slice and none sees the seam between them — which is where the damaging failures live. Beaam sits above them and turns N noisy streams into one quiet signal.
on-call platforms
Built to route alerts around a team and run an on-call rota. If you are the only responder, most of that machinery is overhead — and it is priced per responder. Beaam decides whether to alert; they decide who.
Choose Datadog or Grafana Cloud if you have an SRE function and need deep exploration, custom dashboards and long retention. Choose UptimeRobot if you genuinely only need to know a URL responds — the free tier does that fine, though note its terms have banned commercial use since December 2024. Choose PagerDuty or incident.io once you have a real rota with several humans in it.
Choose Beaam if you are one or two people, running a handful of services that talk to each other, and you want to stop checking dashboards without starting to miss things.
